The NTF supports Finnish Post and Logistical Workers’ Union PAU
The Finnish Post and Logistical Workers’ Union PAU representing over 10 000 members working in post and logistical sector in Finland started strike actions on the 11th of November 2019 against the Finnish Post, a company owned by the Finnish State. The aim of the strike is to prevent and stop the plans of the Finnish Post to decrease the wages of the employees of the Company and members of the PAU by 30 to 40 percent. The Finnish Post has also started a massive campaign in order to break the strike actions with the use of temporary employed strike breakers.
PAU is a member of the Finnish transport workers’ family and an affiliate to the Finnish LO. The other unions representing the Finnish transport workers have already announced that they will start their own sympathy actions in order to support the strike actions of PAU. The plans of the Finnish Post have also been critisised by the Finnish LO.
The Nordic Transport Workers’ Federation NTF, representing 45 Nordic transport workers’ unions and over 375 000 Nordic transport workers in all transport sectors, supports PAU in its fight to preserve its members and Finnish postal workers terms and conditions of employment and condemns the actions of the Finnish Post. The Executive Board of the NTF also calls the affiliates of the NTF to show their sympathy and support to Finnish postal workers in their actions and struggle.
